FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What is your daily schedule or routine like?
Our daily rhythm is designed to balance structure with flexibility, providing a consistent flow that supports both classroom harmony and individual needs. Through intentional transitions, engaging activities, and moments for free play, we create an environment where every child feels secure and inspired. By observing and responding to individual interests, developmental stages, and emotions, we ensure each child is nurtured and supported while fostering a sense of belonging within the group. This balance allows us to meet the needs of the whole class while celebrating each child’s unique journey.
What is the teacher-to-child ratio?
Our small, mixed-age class creates a nurturing and dynamic learning environment where children thrive. The small class size allows for individualized attention, fostering strong relationships and personalized learning experiences. Mixed-age grouping encourages collaboration, empathy, and peer learning as younger children are inspired by older peers, and older children develop leadership and social skills. This approach supports each child’s unique growth while building a close-knit community where everyone feels valued.
How do you handle discipline and behavioral challenges?
Our approach to discipline is rooted in positivity and respect, focusing on guiding children toward self-regulation and problem-solving. We use redirection, clear communication, and natural consequences to help children understand their actions while fostering empathy and accountability. By modeling kindness and setting consistent boundaries, we create a supportive environment where children feel safe, valued, and empowered to make good choices.
What is your policy on sick children and illnesses?
Our illness policy prioritizes the health and well-being of all children in our care. Children will be excluded for uncontrollable bodily fluids (e.g., excessively runny nose, diarrhea, or persistent coughs that cannot be covered), fevers above 100.4°F, or if they are too tired or lethargic to participate in daily activities. A detailed medication policy will be provided upon enrollment. This ensures a safe and healthy environment for everyone.
Do you provide meals and snacks, or should we pack them?
We provide three nutritious meals daily—morning snack, lunch, and afternoon snack—carefully prepared to meet children’s developmental needs. Parents are welcome to provide meals, but they must meet or exceed USDA nutritional guidelines to ensure balanced, healthy options. Our goal is to support each child’s growth with wholesome, nutrient-rich foods.
What is your approach to early learning and education?
Our program blends the Montessori, Reggio Emilia, and Waldorf philosophies to provide a well-rounded early childhood education. Montessori fosters independence and hands-on learning, Reggio Emilia emphasizes curiosity and exploration through a child-led approach, and Waldorf nurtures creativity, imagination, and connection to nature. Together, these philosophies create a balanced environment where children thrive academically, socially, and emotionally, celebrating their individuality and love for learning.
How do you communicate with parents about their child’s progress and day?
We value open and effective communication with parents and offer multiple ways to stay connected, including Brightwheel, email at wildandwunderfulnd@gmail.com, or calling 701-205-8872.
